Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. yeast
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. milk powder
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk
Instructions:
1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and milk powder.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
Add the beaten egg, milk, and activated yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
4. Knead the Dough:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
6. Shape the Naan:
Divide the dough into small equal portions (about 6-8 pieces). Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it into an oval or round shape.
7. Cook the Naan:
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2-3 minutes on one side until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
For extra flavor, brush with melted butter or garlic butter while still warm.
8. Serve:
Serve the naan warm with your favorite cur
ries, dips, or as a side to any meal.
Enjoy your homemade naan bread!
