Ingredients:
7 Cavendish Bananas
2 cups (240 ml) refined sugar
2 packets grape-flavored jelly powder
1 packet pineapple-flavored jelly powder
Granulated sugar (for coating)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Bananas:
Mash the bananas on a plate until smooth. Alternatively, you can use a blender or food processor for ease.
2. Cook the Mixture:
Transfer the mashed bananas to a pan over medium heat. Add the refined sugar and mix well. Stir in the grape and pineapple jelly powders, combining thoroughly. Continue stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, reduces in volume, and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This indicates it’s ready.
3. Shape and Cool:
Line the bottom of a baking dish or bowl with a large, thick plastic sheet, leaving some overhang on the sides. Pour the candy mixture into the dish and spread it evenly. Cover the top with the overhanging plastic, ensuring it touches the candy surface. Let it cool to room temperature.
4. Cut and Coat:
Once cooled, cut the candy into squares or your preferred shape. Roll each piece in granulated sugar to coat.
5. Serve:
Your Brazilian banana candy is ready to enjoy! Store in an airtight container if needed.
