Ingredients:
- 2 Granny Smith apples
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 stick butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (8 count) refrigerated biscuits (Pillsbury recommended)
- 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples into eight equal wedges. Place them in cold water to prevent browning while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
2. In a saucepan, combine water, ¾ cup sugar, butter, and vanilla extract. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
3. Cut each biscuit in half lengthwise. Wrap each apple slice with a piece of biscuit dough, stretching it slightly to seal and cover the apple completely.
4. Arrange the wrapped apple slices in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
5. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the wrapped apple slices.
6. Mix the remaining ¼ cup sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle generously over the top.
7. Bake for about 35 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the apples are tender.
8. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the perfect finishing touch.
Enjoy!
