This easy-to-make chocolate fudge recipe requires just 5 ingredients and makes over 60 small squares of creamy, rich fudge. Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup whole milk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pan:
Grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside.
2. Combine Ingredients:
In a medium saucepan, mix together sugar and cocoa powder. Add the milk and stir until fully combined.
3. Cook the Fudge Base:
Set the saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to boil. Lower the heat and insert a candy thermometer. Let the mixture simmer without stirring until it reaches 238°F (114°C), which should take about 10 minutes.
Alternative method: Drop a small amount of the mixture into cold water. If it forms a soft ball that flattens when removed, it’s ready.
4. Cool the Mixture:
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the fudge cool to 110°F (43°C), which takes about 50–70 minutes. Do not stir while it cools.
5. Add Butter and Vanilla:
Once the fudge has cooled, stir in the butter and vanilla extract. Use a wooden spoon to beat the mixture until it becomes thick and loses its glossy sheen.
6. Set the Fudge:
Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Let it cool at room temperature, or speed up the process by refrigerating it.
7. Cut and Serve:
Once the fudge is set, cut it into 1-inch squares and enjoy!
