Sweet & Tangy Strawberry Cream Cheese Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix
  • 1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and one egg (as directed on the cake mix package) to create a thick batter.
  3. Spread about two-thirds of the batter evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  5. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan.
  6. Spoon the strawberry pie filling over the cream cheese layer, distributing it evenly.
  7. Drop small spoonfuls of the remaining cake batter on top. It doesn’t need to completely cover the surface.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars and serving.
