Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
- 2 pounds ground beef (or ground chuck)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup orange juice
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 green onions, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, sweet chili sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set the mixture aside.
- Cook the Beef: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ground beef, breaking the beef apart as it cooks. Brown the beef for about 3-5 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Simmer the Beef in Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the browned beef and stir well. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Serve the flavorful beef over a bed of steamed rice, and garnish with sliced green onions. For a complete meal, pair it with your favorite vegetables.
Notes
- Add red pepper flakes or chili paste if you prefer extra heat.
- For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
