Charred Lemon-Oregano Octopus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs octopus, cleaned
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest and juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried oregano)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cleaned octopus and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour until tender. Drain and allow it to cool.
  2. Once cooled, cut the octopus into smaller pieces, separating the tentacles and body sections.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the octopus and toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat a grill or grill pan over high heat. Grill the octopus for 3-4 minutes per side until charred and crispy at the edges.
  5. Serve hot with fresh lemon wedges and a sprinkle of parsley. Enjoy this Mediterranean-inspired dish!
