Ingredients
- 1 pound frozen tater tots – The crispy base of the recipe.
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend) – Creates a melty, gooey center.
- 4 strips cooked bacon, crumbled – Adds a delicious smoky flavor.
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped (optional) – Adds a fresh touch.
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour – Helps hold the filling together.
- Oil for frying (if frying instead of baking) – For extra crispiness.
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven or Oil
- If baking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease lightly.
- If frying, heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Make the Filling
- In a bowl, combine shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, green onions (if using), and flour.
- Mix until the ingredients start to clump together slightly.
Step 3: Prepare and Stuff the Tots
- Let the frozen tater tots thaw for about 5-10 minutes until slightly soft.
- Carefully hollow out the center of each tot using a knife or your fingers.
- Fill each tot with a small amount of the bacon-cheese mixture, pressing it in gently.
Step 4: Cook the Stuffed Tots
Baking Method:
- Arrange the stuffed tots on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Frying Method:
- Fry the stuffed tots in batches for 3-4 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Place the tots on a serving plate and garnish with extra green onions, if desired.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces. Enjoy!
