Brown Sugar Pineapple Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, cut into drumettes and flats
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup pineapple chunks
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the chicken:
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
    • Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake the wings:
    • Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  4. Make the sauce:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and pineapple chunks.
    • Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for 5-7 minutes to let the flavors develop.
  5. Thicken the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
    • Slowly pour the slurry into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
  6. Toss the wings:
    • Once the wings are fully cooked, transfer them to a large bowl.
    • Pour the thickened pineapple sauce over the wings and toss until they are fully coated.
  7. Optional garnish:
    • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Serve:
    • Serve hot and enjoy your sweet, sticky, and tangy Brown Sugar Pineapple Chicken Wings!
