Death by Chocolate Poke Cake

 

The Ultimate Chocolate Lover’s Treat

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: usually water, oil, and eggs)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar (12 oz) hot fudge sauce
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat & Prep: Set your oven to the temperature recommended on the cake mix box. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Bake the Cake: Prepare the cake batter following the instructions on the box. Pour it into the greased pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Poke the Cake: While the cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface.
  4. Add Sweetness: Gently warm the hot fudge sauce just enough to pour easily. Drizzle it over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  5. Layer the Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Before it thickens, pour it over the cake and spread evenly.
  6. Chill Time: Place the cake in the fridge for about 1 hour, until it’s fully cooled and the pudding is set.
  7. Top It Off: Spread the whipped topping over the cake, then sprinkle with chocolate shavings or mini chips for a final touch.
