Homemade Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons oil

For the Toppings:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, sausage, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • Add the flour, salt, and oil, then mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Set your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it inside to preheat.
  3. Shape the Dough:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your preferred thickness.
    • Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza peel.
  4. Assemble the Pizza:
    • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously on top.
    • Add your favorite toppings.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
    • Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Let the pizza cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade pizza!
